From fall 2014 to spring 2019, the Imaginarium served as Denver Public Schools’ (DPS) Innovation Lab. Our primary focus was to implement and study the impact of Personalized Learning in K-12 classrooms, emphasizing the development of learner agency. In addition, we explored strategies to nurture innovation in education by holding design challenges, sponsoring individual innovators from the community, and consulting with DPS teams who faced challenges for which there was no ready solution. Our overarching goal has been to (re)design education for equity, in order to close opportunity and achievement gaps for our most vulnerable and underserved students.

The Imaginarium closed on May 31, 2019; however, we believe that our work can live on through the many dedicated professionals who believe that our children deserve something better than our current education system. To that end, we are sharing here what we have learned and the resources we have developed or gathered along the way. On these pages, you will find not only our story, but also the stories of the many clients and students it has been our privilege to serve.

We are grateful for the opportunity to explore and learn alongside our friends and colleagues in DPS and beyond.
